You can measure your bra size at home in about two minutes. Measure around your ribcage just under your bust (your underbust), then around the fullest part of your bust. Your underbust gives you the band size, and the difference between the two measurements gives you the cup. In centimetres, an underbust of 68–72 cm means a band of 34, and a bust that is 10–14 cm bigger than your underbust means a B cup.

Here is exactly how to do it, with no shop visit and no one to ask.

What you need

  • A soft tape measure, the kind a tailor uses. No tape? Wrap a piece of string around yourself, mark it, then lay it flat against a ruler.
  • A light, non-padded bra, or no bra at all. A thick padded bra adds inches that are not yours.
  • A mirror, so you can check the tape stays level.

Step 1: Measure your underbust

Stand straight and breathe normally. Wrap the tape around your ribcage, directly under your bust, where the bra band will sit. It should be snug but not tight, and level all the way round, front and back. Write down the number.

Step 2: Measure your fullest bust

Now wrap the tape around the fullest part of your bust, usually across the nipple line. Keep it level and let it rest lightly. Do not squeeze or flatten. Write this number down too.

Step 3: Find your band size

Match your underbust to the table below. These are the bands FEMBRA makes.

Underbust (cm)Underbust (inches, approx.)FEMBRA band
Under 68Under 26.832
68–7226.8–28.434
73–7728.7–30.336
78–8230.7–32.338
83–8732.7–34.340
88 and above34.6 and above42

Step 4: Find your cup size

Subtract your underbust from your bust. The difference tells you the cup: under 10 cm is A, 10–14 cm is B, 15–17 cm is C, and 18 cm or more is D or above. Every FEMBRA bra is a B cup, so your starting size is your band plus B. If your result is A, B is the closest fit. If it is C or D, message us on WhatsApp before ordering and we will help you choose.

Example: an underbust of 74 cm and a bust of 86 cm. 74 cm gives a band of 36. The difference is 12 cm, which is a B cup. Your starting size is 36B.

You can also skip the maths. Enter your two measurements into our bra size calculator, in centimetres or inches, and it shows your starting size.

Check the fit when it arrives

  • The band sits level around your back and does not ride up.
  • The cups sit smoothly, with no gaping and no spilling over the edge.
  • The straps hold without digging into your shoulders.

If something feels off, our guide to the signs your bra does not fit explains what to try. FEMBRA offers a 7-day return and exchange window, so you can swap for another size. Details are on our shipping and returns page.

Common measuring mistakes

  • The tape is tilted. It dips at the back, so the number comes out too big. Check the mirror.
  • The tape is too tight or too loose. You should be able to slide two fingers under it.
  • Measuring over a padded bra. Padding adds size that is not yours.
  • Holding your breath. Breathe out naturally and measure.
